Bulkley Valley Rod & Gun Club: Nearly a Century on Club Creek

Since 1926, the Bulkley Valley Rod and Gun Club has been a voice for hunters, anglers, and firearms owners in the valley. Its grounds sit at the base of Hudson Bay Mountain, within the unceded traditional territory of the Wet'suwet'en people a clubhouse and range built up over thousands of hours of volunteer work across nearly a century.
But BVRG is more than a range. Its grounds include Club Creek, a salmon-bearing stream, and the club works alongside First Nations, government, and conservation partners on habitat, fisheries, and wildlife programs across the region.

The Club
Nearly a Century in the Bulkley Valley
BVRG was established in 1926, making it one of the longest-running community organizations in the valley. Its clubhouse and grounds are the product of thousands of volunteer hours contributed over generations of members.
The club sits on land within the unceded territory of the Wet'suwet'en people, and its leadership is direct about what that support has meant: the backing of Indigenous First Nations, local businesses, and the wider community has been essential to keeping the club's grounds and programs going.
Today BVRG supports firearm sports, hunting, and fishing, but its work extends well beyond the range into habitat restoration, fisheries stewardship, and education for the next generation of hunters and anglers in the region.
The club is an affiliate of the BC Wildlife Federation and works with groups including the Canadian Coalition for Firearms Rights and the National Firearms Association on firearms advocacy and education.

The club's grounds include Club Creek, a salmon bearing stream that still sees returns from the hatchery once operated on the property. Along with its fishing committee, BVRG works with the Upper Skeena Sport Fishing Committee and local First Nations and watershed groups on the health of the fishery.

BVRG treats conservation as core to its mandate, not a side project from moose management planning to habitat and wildlife funding partnerships, the club has a hand in decisions that shape hunting and fishing in the Bulkley Valley for years to come.
